March 2010 saw the launch of the new KBS website, offering a fresh new look and significantly increased functionality for our purchaser and vendor clients alike.

The new website allows purchaser clients to search by sector, location, turnover and by specific keyword in order to find a business that matches their requirements. As well as increased search facilities, vendors looking to sell their business can download the unique KBS Corporate 6 step guide, which explains the whole sales process that KBS Corporate undertake when marketing a business.

KBS Corporate worked closely with digital marketing agency Cube3 based in Bolton to create the new site. Cube3 quickly realised the importance of creating a functional and effective website for both existing and new clients of KBS Corporate. Having been impressed with their knowledge and enthusiasm, further enhancements to the website have been planned for the near future.

KBS Corporate Plc have been working closely with Clear Business Mortgages in order to help arrange finance to existing business owners to aid business growth and development.

A scheme developed by the government had enabled business owners to obtain the funding necessary to acquire additional businesses in order to grow their own portfolio. In the current economic climate KBS Corporate has seen many business owners buying companies in order to consolidate their own position in the market.

KBS Corporate has seen a pattern develop which suggests that business owners are developing long term plans, consolidating their current position and preparing to take full advantage when consumer confidence returns.

This has been especially evident in the retail sector and with government guaranteed loans available of up to £1million many business owners have purchased ‘bolt-on’ businesses via KBS Corporate.

John Rigby, Managing Director at KBS Corporate said: ” the government backed scheme has enabled many business owners to grow their existing business and secure their long term future. More needs to be done to promote its availability so we would encourage any business owner who has the ambition to further develop their portfolio to get in touch and discuss their options”

KBS Corporate Associate Director, James Thornton recently attended the Fork Lift Truck Association’s Open Meeting and commented that it was a fairly lively meeting meeting. James attended the meeting along with the Sales Director John Rigby in order to advise members on the best way to prepare their businesses for sale, should this be an avenue that they would look at in the future.

At the meeting James gave the members a presentation and Fork Lift Truck Association’s Chief Executive, David Ellison commented that the presentation was excellent. He also went onto say:

“James covered the ground in an interesting and most informative manner providing our members whom may be considering selling their business with some valuable information. Our members are now much better informed”.

KBS Corporate, Sales Director, John Rigby commented:

“This was an excellent opportunity for us as a company to let a small, but selective group of business individuals know all about KBS Corporate and exactly why we are the number 1 Business Broker, albeit sector specific”.

John and James are hopeful that they will get further opportunities like this and are keen to speak with any business owner from any sector. KBS Corporate currently have a database of over 4,000 buyers waiting for businesses, so these types of meetings pose the perfect starting place for a new instruction.

The mergers and acquisitions market is set for a active year in 2010 according to KBS Corporate.

The general merger and acquisition market has seen a slowdown since its peak before the recession started to hit, however the outlook is much brighter for 2010 and beyond according to KBS Corporate MD John Rigby, “we are expecting a busy year in 2010 with the continuing recovery of the economy and the increased lending by banks as a result of government initiatives. KBS Corporate are ideally placed to offer potential buyers good quality businesses and have the means to obtain the necessary funding”

KBS Corporate have recorded significantly high market activity despite the economic downturn, with the group agreeing over £20 million worth af deals in the last month alone. This is attributed to companies with strong balance sheets looking to reinforce their core businesses by taking advantage of acquisition opportunities ahead of expected economic recovery. Greg Jackson says, “Many buyers in recent months have suggested that they see acquisitions as an important growth strategy in a situation where consumer confidence is low, business owners are not just looking at their current situation but are readying their business to take full advantage of market conditions when the economic outlook improves”

Overall 2010 looks positive for the mergers and acquisitions market, especially with the continuing recovery of the UK economy. Business owners looking to sell their company may want to consider instructing a business broker now in order to take full advantage of the expected activity in 2010.

The EFG scheme is an extra incentive, it means that purchasers only need raise 30% of the transaction value as fundng can be sought via a government backed loan. This has already enabled many prospective business owners buy their dream business.
